Braves Recall Martinez And Option Gearrin

CINCINNATI – The Atlanta Braves recalled pitcher Cristhian Martinez from Triple-A Gwinnett and optioned pitcher Cory Gearrin on Friday.

Martine opened the season with Atlanta and was 0-2 with a 3.53 earned-run average in 19 appearances, all in relief, before being optioned to Gwinnett on July 2.

Gearrin was recalled when Martinez was sent down in July. Overall this season, he is 1-1 with a 7.855 ERA in 18 relief appearances over three stints with the Braves.
