(NBC)- American diver Brandon Loschiavo has been named as a last-minute addition to Team USA for the Paris Olympics after a spot unexpectedly opened up.

Back in June, Loschiavo, who competed in the Tokyo Olympics, narrowly missed securing a guaranteed spot in Paris, finishing second in the trials. However, his Olympic dreams are back on track after USA Diving was informed by officials on Thursday that a foreign competitor had to withdraw, making way for Loschiavo’s inclusion.

Loschiavo will now compete alongside Carson Tyler, who won the trials in Knoxville, Tennessee, last month and secured a guaranteed spot on the team. In Tokyo, Loschiavo finished 11th in the 10-meter platform competition.

With this opportunity, Loschiavo becomes a two-time Olympic athlete. The 10-meter diving competition in Paris will be held on August 9th and 10th, marking the final diving event of the Games.
