FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A business in downtown Forsyth is dealing with the aftermath of an overnight fire.

According to the Forsyth Fire Department, crews responded to Branded Starr Western Boutique just after 10:30 Tuesday night.

Fire Chief Kevin Bunn says when they arrived, the main goal was to prevent the fire from spreading to other buildings. Everything inside was destroyed, but the amount of financial damage is unknown right now.

“We arrived to find heavy smoke showing,” Bunn said. “The guys made entry. High heat conditions, low visibility. We cut a hole in the roof to release some heat and gases. That helped them out a little bit, but their back roof started sagging and eventually collapsed, which forced us outside. We came out and flowed ladder pipes to  finish putting the fire out.”

Bunn says the state fire marshal believes the fire was electrical in nature and started in the attic area. He also believes the building didn’t have a monitored fire alarm system.
