Body found in Fort Valley

FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Fort Valley police are looking for answers after finding a body on Tuesday.

They were called after someone saw the body in a wooded area off Davidson Drive.

Peach County Coroner Kerry Rooks says the person appeared to have been dead for “at least a week, maybe two weeks.” Rooks was unable to determine the person’s age or sex because the body was so decomposed.

According to a Facebook post by the Fort Valley Department of Public Safety, the body was sent to the GBI Crime Lab for identification and to determine cause of death.

41NBC will continue to update this story as more information becomes available.
