Bobcats No. 6 on First NCAA Southeast Region List

INDIANAPOLIS (GCSU RELEASE) – The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) released today the first Southeast Region rankings poll and have listed the Georgia College women’s basketball team at No. 6. The rankings determine which teams get invited to the Division II National Tournament and they will continue to get updated as the March Tournament approaches.

Currently eight teams from each region get invited with tournament conference winners receiving an automatic bid, while five other at-large teams are also selected based on the regional rankings. The last rankings prior to the national tournament will determine the at-large selections.

The Southeast Region is represented by the Peach Belt Conference (PBC), South Atlantic Conference (SAC), and the Conference Carolinas (CC). Each conference tournament champion from the PBC, SAC, and CC plus five at-large teams selected from the Southeast Region poll will compete for the NCAA Division II National Championship along with three conference winners and five at-large teams from seven other regions.

In addition to the Southeast Region, the other seven regions include the Midwest, South, East, Central, South Central, West, and Atlantic.

The Bobcats next take to the court Saturday, Feb 22 at the University of Montevallo for a 2:30 p.m. start.
