Bobcat Golf Puts Three on All-America Scholars Team

gcsuAUGUSTA, Georgia (GCSU ATHLETICS) – The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced the Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars list, with Georgia College golfers Taylor Smith (Mansfield, Ga.), Patrick Garrett (Kennesaw, Ga.) and Victor Monte (Chantilly, Va.) taking spots on the list.

Just 58 student-athletes from all NCAA Division II schools earned slots on the list.

To be eligible for All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team’s competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke-average under 78.0 in Division II and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2.

A graduated senior, Smith was one of three Bobcats to play in all 10 tournaments last season. His 73.8 stroke average was tops on the team, earning him All-Peach Belt Conference (PBC) status.

Also a graduated senior, Garrett was fourth on the team in stroke average at 75.1, seeing action in all 10 tournaments as well. He was named to the All-PBC Second Team.

Monte, a rising senior, also competed in all 10 tournaments with a 75.9 stroke average. He was the lone PBC All-Academic Honoree for Georgia College last year.
