Blue Bird bringing 200 jobs to Fort Valley

FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Blue Bird Corporation is bringing 200 new jobs to Fort Valley.

The company announced its plan for a new second shift for its body assembly plant. Each new Blue Bird employee will receive training through “Quickstart,” the state’s workforce development program.

Blue Bird is also partnering with Central Georgia Technical College for training.

“You’re bringing three different groups together: business, education, and the state. When you have that formula, you’re a success,” said Michael McCurdy, with Blue Bird Corporation.

The addition is meeting a demand to make more buses.

Last year, Blue Bird built more than 10,000 buses. This year, leaders expect that number to hit 11,000.
