Blondes vs. Brunettes Football Game on Saturday
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The annual Blondes vs. Brunettes flag football game kickoffs Saturday afternoon.
The rivalry was created to encourage two teams to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association.
This the fourth year the challenge has happened in Macon.
The football game is final part of Blondes vs. Brunettes.
April Cassell is a player for Team Brunettes. She said she participated in the challenge in honor of the people in her life who’ve been affected by Alzheimer’s.
“To me it’s just hard to see people going through that when they you know, their loved ones do not remember who they are or they struggle with doing basic things like reading,” Cassell said. “You know, it just takes away their identity and I feel like that just is not fair.”
Right now, Team Brunettes is in the lead with raising $60,489.11. Team Blondes has raised $24,203.70.
The goal is for both teams in total to raise $113,000 by November 2nd.
The Flag Football Game will be at Mercer University on the intramural fields, near the football stadium.
The game starts at 12:00 p.m.
