“We're hosting Streets for All Fest to build community, bring people together, show off some of our exciting projects going on, and advocate for better streets," said Rachel Umana, Executive Director of Bike Walk Macon.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Bike Walk Macon is celebrating ten years with its first ”Streets for All Fest’, which starts this Thursday, March 6 and will go through Saturday, March 8.
A variety of events will take place over the course of the Fest, including rides, walks and gatherings, both free and paid, beginning with a Macon Bike Party: Decades Ride at 6 p.m. on the March 6 and ending with a Plaza Party Celebrating 10 Years of Bike Walk Macon at 5 p.m. on the March 8, both of which are free.
We spoke with Rachel Umana, Executive Director of Bike Walk Macon, about how it all started.
“So, I started Bike Walk Macon back in 2015. It started just as a very volunteer grassroots movement of just people getting together and riding bikes and building a voice for better biking and walking,” Umana said. “We’re a nonprofit who has helped leverage millions of dollars to fund better streets. We’ve advocated for policies that improve the design of our streets, so over the past ten years, we’ve seen it grow and accomplished a lot.”
“We’re hosting Streets for All Fest to build community, bring people together, show off some of our exciting projects going on, and advocate for better streets,” she added.
“Everybody is welcome to join us, and we’ll have music and games,” she said. “We’ll be sharing more about what we’ve done the past ten years, what we plan to accomplish in the next ten years, so we’d love for you to get a ticket. If you don’t get a ticket, just join us for one of the free events. We’d love to see you.”
General admission tickets to paid events start at $20 but will increase soon to $25. Admission is free for children 10 and under.
