Bids Presented for Bay Gall Creek Buffer Restoration Project

Three bids were presented tonight at Warner Robins pre-council to restore the buffer at Bay Gall Creek.

In 2011, the city was fined $50,000 by the Environmental Protection Division for permit violations. City purchasing agent, Mark Baker, says the project will require landscaping to be planted in the area. Once this initial phase is complete, the EPD will reassess the land in June or July to determine if more planting is needed.

“We’re investing a lot of money into training for all of our engineers to make sure we do it right up front, and the rules are always changing, and we need to always stay in the forefront of the way the rules for the EPD are changing, and we need to do that,” says Mayor Chuck Shaheen.

Cedargreen Landscaping out of Fort Valley proposed the lowest bid, at just over $20,000. Mayor Shaheen suggested the money come out of the un-obligated fund balance since the project needs to be brought up to code.
