Bibb Sheriff: Shooting leaves one dead, deputies piecing together investigation
It happened at 4028 Suzanne Drive.
At about 6:30 Thursday morning, the resident, 20-year-old Drevon McLaurin, shot the burglar, 49-year-old Andrew Darrell Brown, who Bibb County Sheriff David Davis says was trying to attack McLaurin with a hammer.
McLaurin was taken to the hospital with head injuries.
“We’re looking at this, just trying to piece it all together and figure out exactly how these people came to be in the house,” said Davis. “We understand that neither one of these individuals was the owner of the house.”
The sheriff asked anyone who knows anything about what happened to call his office at 751-7500.
“This is certainly the first time we’ve had anything this serious out in this area,” said Davis.
Brown was shot in his lower body, and an autopsy with give further details about how he died.
“There were four dogs in the house,” said Davis. “Animal control got three of them at the beginning when we first started investigating. I think there’s one more they’re going to pick up, so they’re going to take them to the animal welfare.”
Deputies will look into who owns the house as well as the background of both men as they continue to investigate.
