Bibb Schools Police Chief writes children’s book to inspire kindness and empowerment
Adams says he created the book to show children how to be a better person and how to treat others the way they want to be treated.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Bibb County School District Police Chief Curtis Adams wrote the newest book in the library at Vineville Academy of the Arts.
“Chief Adams’ Bridge of Kindness” was published to make children feel safe and happy with who they are.
Adams says he created the book to show children how to be a better person and how to treat others the way they want to be treated.
“I realized with all of the bullying and issues that have been going on, just in society in general, that I wanted to touch the heart of our younger generations,” he said. “And by doing that, I said I would build a bridge: not a bridge of stone, not a bridge of wood, but a bridge of kindness.”
Adams says he was inspired to write this book to send a message to the younger generation.
“One small act of kindness,” he said. “That’s what made me passionate about writing this book, because I saw the transformation that it has made in many people’s lives that I have spoken to and encountered as a police officer, just by being kind to them.”
Vineville Academy of the Arts Principal Kristy Graham say a book like this is so important for young children.
“Sometimes you don’t know what a person is going through that day or the shoes they’re walking in,” she said. “And until you have walked in those shoes, a book like this will help them reach out, give a smile, and hope that encourages their day.”
Graham says the more children see that their community is a giving place, the greater the difference we will see.
“Everywhere we go, if you’re that one person that reaches out and makes a difference, books like this will help them resonate and make that difference themselves.”
Adams, who read the book to students at Vineville on Monday, says he will be releasing more children’s and activity books in the near future.
