Bibb judge keeps charges against man accused of killing Ta’Shuntis Roberts
Terrance Hampton is charged with murder and five counts of aggravated assault.
At a commitment hearing Tuesday, the lead Bibb County sheriff’s investigator said a search of Hampton’s home found an empty box of 9mm rounds. He explained casings were found at the scene of the crime. The investigator added it’s too early to tell if Hampton is involved in a gang, but other gang members said he is involved.
Hampton is accused of shooting multiple times into the 14-year-old girl’s home December 13. Investigators said Roberts was hit in her side and back. She was taken to the hospital and later died.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office determined the shooting was gang related. The investigation showed Roberts was an innocent victim and her house was targeted in an act of retaliation for a previous shooting. Investigators believe Hampton was holding Roberts’ brother and close friends responsible for a previous act of violence. Hampton reported his house was shot at on December 12.
41NBC’s Skyler Henry will have more details about the hearing tonight on the news at 6.
