MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A woman was arrested and charged Friday after stealing an ambulance and assaulting an EMT, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say two Southeast Ambulance workers were parked outside of Eastside Dialysis to pick up a patient. While waiting there, they say Jessica Lusher jumped into the ambulance and drove off.

The incident report states shortly after Lusher took the ambulance, she hit a tree and disabled the vehicle. One EMT then pursued Lusher and when he caught up to her, she hit him with a steel rod.

According to the report, Lusher seemed “demented or high.” She was arrested and taken to the hospital, where cocaine and meth were found in her system.

Lusher is being charged with theft by taking motor vehicle and simple assault.
