Bibb Deputies Take $250,000 Worth of Pot off Street

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Bibb County deputies helped seize 60 lbs. of high-grade marijuana, valued at $250,000.

At a news conference earlier today, Bibb County Sheriff Jerry Modena said it all started with a tip to the Butts County Sheriff’s Office. Butts County Sheriff, Gene Pope says his deputies found out a container of marijuana was going to be delivered to 661 Ormond Terrace.

“He picked the phone up, made a few phone calls and we were up and running, and the whole time we’re working together that partnership was formed to do that, perform did, and you see the results right here on this table,” says Modena.

On November 29th, a Bibb Deputy went undercover as a common mail carrier and drove the drugs to the home in South Bibb County. When one suspect signed for the boxes, drug investigators moved in and took two men into custody. Fredrick Card, Jr. and Duente Stewart, both of Macon, are charged with drug trafficking.

Pope says arrest helped curb the state-wide drug problem.

“It is very important that we maintain that connection because it is all our problem. It’s not just Butts County , or any other county’s problem,” says Pope.

Sheriff Modena wouldn’t say where the drugs were coming from because this is an on-going investigation. He says they expect more arrests to be made in connection with this delivery.
