Bibb deputies, SWAT team investigating shooting

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Bibb County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a shooting that happened in the Bloomfield area.

According to reports, authorities responded to a call of a person shot at a home located on McEvoy Drive around 1 p.m. Tuesday. Investigators say the victim, 38-year-old Lonnie Hicks of Milledgeville, was shot once in the back.

The sheriff’s office says the shooting happened at a home on Sherill Drive and Hicks was driven to McEvoy Drive after he was shot.

The victim was taken to the hospital for surgery.

41NBC’s Alexa Rodriguez reports seeing a helicopter and the Bibb County SWAT team on the scene.
