Bibb deputies looking for person responsible in Lizella homicide

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is looking for the person responsible for shooting and killing a teenager Wednesday morning. The victim was later identified as 16-year-old Chase Gillis of Macon.

Deputies say the shooting happened at 156 Briar Creek Trail. When they got to the scene, they found Gillis shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to reports, Gillis had been in contact with a man before going to the home on Briar Creek. He was going to make some sort of transaction when he was shot by one of two men at the home. Those men are 19-year-old Logan Nettle of Lizella, and 23-year-old David Billingsley of Macon. Both ran away from the home after the shooting and later turned into the sheriff’s office by a relative.

They were questioned by investigators, then released.
