Bibb deputies link accused sock thief to Macon shooting

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Bibb sheriff’s deputies arrested a Macon man, believed to be involved with a February shooting, after he was caught stealing socks on Tuesday.

According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, a deputy spotted 22-year-old Keonte Ray with a pair of athletic socks inside of his pants coming out of the Academy Sports store on Eisenhower Parkway.

Ray walked out of the store without paying for the socks. The anti-theft security strip set the store’s alarm off.

After running Ray’s information, the deputy discovered Ray had armed robbery and aggravated assault charges from a shooting incident on Goodwin Drive in February.

Ray is in the Bibb County jail charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, and probation violation.
