Bibb deputies investigating fatal pedestrian accident involving a log truck

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Bibb County sheriff’s deputies have contacted a family member of the victim in Wednesday night’s fatal pedestrian accident that involved a log truck.

The sheriff’s office says the accident happened around 7:15 Wednesday night. Authorities say a man was standing in the left lane of Broadway when an empty log truck driven by 44-year-old Jerry Eugene Lollar of Covington hit him. Lollar hit the brakes to try to avoid hitting him, but was not successful.

The man’s body was pushed into the southbound lane. A Honda Accord driven by 42-year-old Ronnie Dioun Morgan of Thomaston ran over him and dragged him several feet. Investigators say Morgan did not see the pedestrian.

The victim was identified as 55-year-old Douglas Michael Oliver. Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones says he died at the scene.

Jones say Oliver was homeless.

As of Wednesday evening, no one was charged.
