Bibb County Summer School Programs
With school out, some Bibb County students are making the most of their break with summer school.
Rutland High School is offering programs geared to help those needing to get back on track and students who want to get a head start.
“It’s all about student achievement, it’s about creating students to be productive citizens, currently and beyond high school,” said Assistant Principal Dr. Julia Daniely at Rutland High.
Daniely recognizes every student is different, with individual needs. She’s confident in the schools summer program.
Latasha Young dropped out of school, but realized quickly she made the wrong decision.
“It’s helping me a lot so I can graduate and be on track, I didn’t graduate in May with most of my class but I still get to graduate in 2011.”
The summer program gives students a second chance at a brighter future.
“It’s a rewarding experience to see students who have dropped out of school who did not have any hope at the beginning of this school term to graduate, now be able to graduate in July,” said Daniely.
The summer program isn’t just for students needing to make up classes, it’s also for students wanting to get ahead.
Incoming sophomore Nyanna Miller says, “It prepares you because it shows you what kind of work you’ll be doing and helps you get the skills that you would need to be able to pass your EOCT.”
The last day to register for the summer program at Rutland High School is June 2nd.
