Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputies teach kids leadership, sportsmanship
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Football brings a lot of people together, including Bibb County Sheriff’s deputies and students out of school this week.
A group of about 30 children played football and learned some life lessons at the Bibb County Sheriff’s Police Athletic League football game today.
Any kid in Bibb County can do it, and it’s free.
Deputies set up a flag football game, divided teams, and refereed.
Then, they cooked a meal for the boys.
Corporal Emmitt Bivins says they teach sportsmanship and make the participants more teachable as they get older.
“They’re gonna know as long as they’re doing the right thing in the community, making good decisions, that the police are on their side, the police are their friend,” said Bivins. “So of the many things that we’re doing in sheriff’s outreach–that Sheriff Davis has us doing, this is just one that we’re doing.”
If you want to get your child involved, call the Bibb Sheriff’s Outreach Office at 803-2017.
