Bibb County Sheriff’s K-9 unit visits St. Joseph Catholic School
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – On Tuesday, students at St. Joseph’s Elementary School got a lesson from teachers with four legs.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office used their K-9’s to teach kids about drugs as part of Red Ribbon Week, a campaign to keep kids drug and alcohol free.
Deputies performed a search demonstration and talked about the dangers of drug abuse.
“What we hope the kids take away from this program, is that they are aware of what drugs and alcohol can do to them if they know of anyone that may be in a situation like that, that they know what to do and who to go to,” explained Lieutenant Randy Gonzalez with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
Lieutenant Gonzalez said it’s important to teach kids about the dangers of drugs early on because kids get involved with illegal substances at a young age.
