Bibb County Sheriff’s deputies arrest Craiglist crook
According to a news release, the victim 32-year-old, Benjamin Glass met with 18-year-old Tyree Jerome Lewis to make a Craiglist sale.
Glass handed the item to Lewis to take a look at it. That’s when Lewis took the item and ran off toward Macon Garden’s apartment on Mercer University Drive.
Deputies spotted Lewis coming out and going back into a Macon Garden apartment.
He was arrested and charged with one count of theft by taking and served two bench warrants on unrelated charges.
He was later charged with 2 counts of robbery by sudden snatching and another count of theft by taking.
The additional charges also stem from the suspect contacting a Craiglist seller.
Bibb County Sheriff David Davis says “This is a cautionary take for those who peddle items on internet barter sites.”
Anyone with information on these incidents is asked to call the Bibb County sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500.
