Bibb County Schools Review School Security

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Following the school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, Bibb County School District leaders are talking to campus administrators about reviewing the district’s safety protocols.

“The most effective safety plans involve engagement, planning, and regular review and practice,” said David Gowan, Director of Risk Management for the Bibb County School District. “These terrible events remind us that no one is immune from tragedy. The best we can do is to prepare for emergency situations so we know what to do in the highly unlikely event something like this happens here.”

The district has 25 armed, campus police officers.

Gowan is expected to give a safety update to school board members later this week.
