MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Parents, faculty and staff, and other Bibb County residents will have a chance to voice their opinions about school consolidation at Thursday night’s town hall.

The district will reveal its current considerations for consolidation, share what factors will go into the final decision, and outline potential next steps. The district will also be taking input and feedback from those in attendance. Myrtice Johnson, President of the Bibb County Board of Education, says the district wants as many community members to attend as possible, as the district’s decision will impact taxpayers across the county.

“These students belong to all of us,” Johnson said. “Not just the school board, not just the superintendent of the school district, but all of us. And wherever the school district goes, so goes the community. If our district is weak then we’re going to have a weak community. So, I feel like everybody who’s apart of this community, Macon-Bibb County, everybody should be involved in this school district.”

Up to this point, the district had stated that they had no schools in mind for consolidation. The town hall begins at 5:30 p.m., and will be held at the Professional Learning Center, located at 2003 Riverside Drive.
