Bibb County School Board Accepts Superintendent’s Resignation
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- Dr. Romain Dallemand has resigned as Superintendent of the Bibb County School District.
The school board met tonight in executive session for about an hour before it announced the news.
When board members finally came out from behind closed doors, they took a vote on whether to accept Dr. Dallemand’s resignation, and it passed, 7-1. Lester Miller was the only board member to vote against that resolution.
The board accepts the resignation in exchange for a severance agreement, which says the superintendent’s last day of serving shall be on the date of the agreement, which is today.
He will still be available for the board president or interim superintendent to talk with about transitioning into new leadership through June 30 — that’s when his previous contract was set to expire.
Dallemand will also receive a lump sum of $350,000 within the next 24 hours, and he’ll continue to receive health benefits through June 30.
As part of the agreement, the board will send a summary of Dallemand’s achievements here in Bibb County out to his potential future employers.
You can read the severance agreement here.
Interim board president Susan Sipe called the decision that was reached “mutual and amicable” and wished Dallemand the best of luck in his future endeavors.
Aside from Sipe’s statement, board members tonight wouldn’t comment on the resignation.
Dallemand wasn’t at the meeting.
