Bibb County Principal Earns National Award
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Bibb County principal is being honored as the top principal across the Peach State.
Dr. Amy Duke, the principal of Springdale Elementary School, was selected as Georgia’s 2013 National Distinguished Principal. She was surprised by students, faculty, and staff Wednesday afternoon. She will go on to represent Georgia next fall in Washinton D.C. at an awards ceremony.
Duke says she is honored to have been chosen, but she shares the recognition with everyone at the school.
“We have an amazing group of teachers and staff members. They’re very hardworking, so the credit goes to them,” Duke said. “You can’t be a great principal without great staff and great students and parents. It’s just the total package here at Springdale.”
Duke has been principal at Springdale for seven years. She was nominated by colleagues and was selected out of several applicants from across the state.
