Bibb County joint operation leads to arrests, 68 citations and firearm seizures

The Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division initiated the operation Friday, August 28, with assistance from the Georgia State Patrol.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office C.I.T.E. Unit, H.E.A.T. Unit, SRT Unit and K-9 Interdiction Unit participated in the operation, which focused on proactive patrols, traffic enforcement and crime suppression efforts throughout Macon-Bibb County.

Several traffic stops were conducted during the operation. According to the Sheriff’s Office, several arrests were made, 68 traffic citations were issued, 32 traffic warnings were given and three warrants were served.

Authorities said approximately five firearms were seized during the operation. An undisclosed amount of money, marijuana and a white, powdery substance believed to be methamphetamine were also recovered.

Sheriff David Davis released the following statement:

“Details such as this go beyond traffic enforcement. Through coordinated efforts, our deputies and law enforcement partners can identify dangerous activity, remove illegal drugs and firearms from our streets, and apprehend wanted individuals before they can further threaten our residents. I appreciate the dedicated efforts of our C.I.T.E., H.E.A.T., SRT, and K-9 Interdiction units, along with the Georgia State Patrol. Their teamwork helps protect the people of Macon-Bibb County and makes our community safer for everyone.”

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office also thanked the Georgia State Patrol for its assistance during the joint enforcement operation.
