Bibb County Elementary School Mergers Postponed, Tentative Budget Approved
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- The push to merge and mix grades at four Bibb County Elementary schools is off the table for now.
The plan to consolidate Barden and Burghard Elementaries, effectively closing one, has raised a lot of controversy with parents saying it wouldn’t be in the best interest of the students.
Reconfiguring grades at Jones and King-Danforth Elementaries is also off for the time being. The previously scheduled public hearings to talk about those changes are also cancelled.
Thursday night, the Bibb County School Board did tentatively approve a budget plan for fiscal year 2014. To view that plan, CLICK HERE.
A public hearing is set for Monday June 17th to talk about the budget, before the board final approves it on June 24th. Both of those events are scheduled for 6pm.
