Bibb County Earns “F” in Air Quality
According to the American Lung Association’s annual report, dangerous levels of pollution have given Bibb county a failing grade when it comes to air quality. The report ranks the amount of smog and other pollutants in the air.
Bibb is the most polluted county in the entire state, and that distinction has earned it an “F”. The City of Macon’s pollution rating also increased from the 27th worst in the nation to the 21st.
Dr. David Harvey, of the North Central Health District, says “People who have any type of lung condition, disease, or allergy are at higher risk to have problems because of the irritation.”
Executive Director of the Middle Georgia Clean Air Coalition, Charise Stephens, says she isn’t surprised by the rating; because of previous reports.
She says the coalition is continuing to work to improve the overall air quality.
