Bibb County Discusses 2013 SPLOST Projects

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Bibb County lays out the framework for some of its planned SPLOST projects for this year.

In a meeting at Lake Tobesofkee Friday morning that lasted more than three hours, commissioners and department heads discussed several of the county’s planned projects.

Those include upgrades to recreational facilities plus some new buildings, such as several fire stations arond the country.

Those at the meeting also discussed plans for the courthouse once the government consolidates with the city next year.

Chairman Sam Hart says no one project has priority over the others, but he’s excited that most of them are moving along as planned.

“People have been asking us, you know, as it relates to these projects, ‘When will you start? When will you do some things? When can we expect to see some things on the ground?’ So, I think we got that today.”

An update on the new animal shelter was given during the meeting.

The county already has the land for the building but still has to iron out a few more details with architects, which include possibly adding a park with walking trails.

Chairman Hart says he expects construction to start on the building in August.
