MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – After nearly three years, a lawsuit filed against Bibb County Sheriff Candidate and business owner, Christopher Paul, has ended.

In March of 2021, two employees filed a lawsuit in federal court against Paul’s company, CP Security Groups, Inc.

Kenneth Grable and Arthur Redding accused their boss, Christopher Paul, of violating the Fair Labor Standards Act. Their testimony detailed seven-day work weeks, 12-hour shifts, inaccurate records of their working hours and no overtime pay.

According to court documents, these testimonies went unchallenged in court, as CP Security did not respond to the lawsuit. At one point, Grable described a conversation in which Paul said “that Mr. Redding was not working overtime; rather he was working ‘extra time.’” Later, the two men told the court Paul retaliated to complaints by cutting their hours. At one point, Grable was allegedly taken off the work schedule completely.

According to court filings, Grable lost an estimated $21,195.60 in wages from May to October of 2021. As for Redding, that estimate comes to $19,084.60. Redding says his hours were cut in September of 2021.

Filings from a Macon courtroom show Christopher Paul is ordered to pay $131,940.93 in damages.

Former employees Kenneth Grable, Arthur Redding, Merrick Robinson and Ulysses Finnell were awarded thousands each for unpaid overtime, liquidated damages and legal fees.

  • Grable: $41,400.38
  • Redding: $40,739.00
  • Robinson: $4,177.98
  • Finnell: $8,965.32
  • Attorney’s fees: $36,658.25
