Bibb County Campus Police Hosting Anti-Bullying, Anti-Gang Information Sessions

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Bibb County campus police want parents to know many kids may be silent victims of bullying.

Campus police are kicking off the first of six information sessions Monday night at Northeast High school. The goal is to give parents tips to find out if their child is being bullied. They’ll talk about local gangs and what parents should look for if they’re concerned their kids may be involved.

Captain Ron Rodgers says he hopes these meetings will start a conversation between the adults and the police.

“We want to bring it out to the forefront,” he said. “We want to identify those children, not to put them out and embarrass them, but we want to give them an opportunity to know that we’re here for them because it’s all about building the strength of character and getting them college ready.”

Parents attending the information sessions will also receive information on community resources for assisting in dealing with bullying and gangs.

Sessions will take place:

  • Monday, November 26, at 7 p.m. at Northeast High School, 1646 Upper River Road
  • Monday, December 3, at 7 p.m. at Central High School, 2155 Napier Avenue
  • Tuesday, December 4, at 7 p.m. at Howard High School, 6400 Forsyth Road
  • Thursday, December 6, at 7 p.m. at Westside High School, 2851 Heath Road
  • Tuesday, December 11, at 7 p.m. at Southwest High School, 1775 Williamson Road
  • Thursday, December 13, at 7 p.m. at Rutland High School, 6250 Skipper Road.
