Bibb County Board of Education , District 2 Candidates Ready for Tuesday

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- There are 3 candidates running for the Bibb County Board of Education, District 2. Each candidate has a different background that he or she believes will make him or her the right person for the job. Angel Davis Hopper, a medical assistant and mother of 4, said she attends every board meeting and is very active in the school district. Dr. Thelma Dillard has worked as an educator for 44 years, served on Macon city council for 20 years, and is now an education consultant.

Alan Taylor has 2 children in the school system and is also the chair of the Alexander II School Council. Taylor, Hopper, and Dr. Dillard all said that they want what’s best for the school district.

“I am consistently in the school system working with the kids and working with the teachers,” said Angel Davis Hopper.

“My purpose for running and my skills are different because I have already been working to improve education, and I have been in education all of my life,” said Dr. Thelma Dillard.

“I believe I can better negotiate for the interest of the District 2 schools than my competitors because of my experience as an attorney,” said Alan Taylor.

If you want to beat the crowds to cast your ballot, there’s just one day left. You can vote early for the Bibb County School Board race, the District 26 race, and others Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. at the Bibb County Board of Elections. Don’t forget your photo ID.
