Base Officials Name 84 Positions On The Chopping Block

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Dozens of job cuts are coming to Robins Air Force Base.  83 military positions and one civilian job will be cut as part of the Air Force’s 2013 fiscal year budget request.

Most of the military jobs being cut are part of the 461st Air Control Wing and the Band of the U.S. Air Force Reserve.  The positions in the band are being eyed for elimination because the Air Force plans to call for the unit to be deactivated next year.

Overall the Air Force is planning to eliminate 5,100 national guard, 3,900 active duty and 900 reserve authorizations.  Leaders hope this will help DoD trim $487 billion from its budget over the next 10 years.
