Baldwin High School Students Dance for Producers of “America’s Got Talent”

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A group of Baldwin County teens are dancing their way into the national spotlight with hopes to make their city proud.

Walt Disney said all our dreams come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.

And six Baldwin High School students are doing just that.

The dance group ‘Silence’ is a hip-hop, pop-locking team that caught the eyes of producers of NBC’s hit TV show, “America’s Got Talent.”

“We became ‘Silence’ and we did a talent show and we found out ‘Black Phantoms’ was the name of a gang so we had to change it so we came up with ‘Silence’,” Chris Guy, one of the members, said.

Producers spotted them after their performance and asked them to dance in a private audition in Atlanta.

“They called our band director at our school, Mr. Murrell, and they offered us a private audition. So we called them the next day and since then, we’ve been practicing everyday. Every morning we meet up and practice all the way until 6:30 pm everyday,” Guy said.

Why the name ‘Silence?’

“Well….we leave the crowd speechless,” Guy said.

The high school students are inspired by famous dancers including Michael Jackson and the Jabbawockeez.

“We went to Las Vegas and we watched the Jabbawockeez performance and it was great. Seeing them in person was a lot better than TV,” Guy said.

Silence is hoping to put the spotlight on middle Georgia.

“That’s what we’re basically going for to put Milledgeville, Georgia on the map. You know Milledgeville is a small city and that’s what we’re aiming for…putting Milledgeville on the map,” Xavier Moss, group manager, said.

And break the silence with some noise.
