Baldwin Deputies Looking for Clown Wanted for Armed Robbery

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A man claims he was robbed early Wednesday morning by a person wearing clown-like makeup, according to the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident report states the armed robbery happened around 1:40 a.m. at a double wide mobile home in the 100th block of Shady Rest Ct. Captain Brad King tells 41NBC the victim, Dale Jenkins, thought someone was in the house. Jenkins told deputies he was approached by a black man he didn’t know whose face was painted like a clown. King described it as a bullseye pattern.

King says the victim told law enforcement the suspect was armed with a tire iron and demanded money. There was a struggle and Jenkins was able to take the weapon away. That’s when Jenkins says the suspect ran into the kitchen and began dumping plates onto the floor. Jenkins told deputies that is where he kept his money.

According to the incident report, the robber stole more than $1,500 and Jenkins’ driver’s license.

Jenkins told the sheriff’s office he believed the suspect entered through the bedroom, but King says preliminary forensic evidence doesn’t suggest that.

King says they are looking at the evidence and trying to make an ID. The investigation is ongoing.
