Baldwin Co. Residents Upset over Proposed Housing Development
Residents in one Baldwin County neighborhood are upset over the possible construction of an affordable housing community.
Jef Hogen has lived in the Dunlap Neighborhood for more than 40 years and says he is afraid the complex creation will lower his home’s value.
“We don’t want to bring some apartments like section 8 and lower the value of our house, because we work hard, ” says Hogen.
Jeff Adams agrees, “I just don’t think it should be placed in the middle of a neighborhood.”
Both Adams and Hogen say they are also concerned with a potential rise in crime. The apartment complex would consist of 80 units, and it would require tenants to earn around $18,000 in yearly income.
