“Backpack Buddies” feeds a thousand students
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – “Backpack Buddies” is a program to help children who don’t receive a lot of nutrition outside of school.
Every week, Forest Hills United Methodist Church and Vineville United Methodist Church pack meals for students.
This week was different because each child at L.H. Williams Elementary School went home with a meal and a book.
“Literacy is such an important part of their education and so many children don’t have access to books at home. We want to make sure they have a book of their very own to take home,” explains Ivey Hall from The Junior League of Macon.
Hall said The Junior League is trying to get as many books as possible out to Bibb County Students.
