Attorney General Holder in Macon: Criminal Case Possible for Oil Spill

One year after the biggest oil spill in our nation’s history, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder says the Obama administration is making progress with the recovery.

Holder told 41 NBC News, the Obama administration is working to make sure BP is held accountable for the damage caused along the gulf. We’ve previously reported the Justice Department was moving forward with civil lawsuits, but Holder says the government is also considering criminal court action.

He said, “We’ve really tried to work to get people money who had to deal with the immediate aftermath of BP. Now, we’re looking at imposing criminal obligations on those responsible for the spill.”

Holder spoke to 41NBC while visiting Macon Saturday to celebrate the 75th birthday of his brother-in-law, Elvin Malone.
