MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Students and Macon residents now have access to a new computer center, thanks to an AT&T initiative aimed at closing the digital divide.
The “Connected Learning Center” officially opened Wednesday morning with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia in Macon. It is the seventh Connected Learning Center in Georgia.
The center will provide free access to digital resources, including high-speed AT&T Fiber internet, Wi-Fi, and Dell computers. It will be open to youth, families, and learners of all ages in Macon-Bibb County and will also offer free educational resources and mentoring opportunities.
Phillip Bryant, president and CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia, said the new center will help students succeed in an increasingly digital world.
Macon-Bibb County Mayor Lester Miller, along with other community leaders and volunteers, attended the event.
The center is part of AT&T’s national Connected Learning initiative to address the digital divide through internet accessibility, affordability, and safe adoption. The company has committed $5 billion to help 25 million people get and stay connected to high-speed internet by 2030. AT&T plans to open at least 100 Connected Learning Centers by the end of 2027.
