MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Atrium Health Navicent is limiting visitors to help protect patients as respiratory illnesses rise in the community. The hospital is also encouraging residents to take preventative measures, including vaccinations, good hygiene and staying home when unwell.

According to a news release from Atrium Health Navicent, visitor restrictions for acute care hospitals, emergency departments, rehabilitation units, behavioral health facilities, inpatient hospice, infusion centers, and certain cancer areas will take effect on January 8. Skilled nursing facilities will not have age-related visitation restrictions, but visitors must wear masks in areas where direct patient care is provided and in waiting rooms.

“By taking a few simple precautions, everyone can play a role in slowing the spread of respiratory illnesses in our community this season,” said Dr. Patrice Walker, Chief Medical Officer at Atrium Health Navicent.

Visitors must wear masks in areas where direct patient care is provided, as well as in waiting rooms. Atrium Health Navicent asks all visitors to follow on-site signage and directions provided by staff. Some hospitals and care locations may have additional restrictions, which are subject to change without notice.

Atrium Health Navicent also offers primary care, urgent care, and virtual visits for non-emergency care. More information is available at NavicentHealth.org.
