Atrium Health Navicent Baldwin opens OB-GYN clinic to expand maternal care in Milledgeville
Chief clinical officer Dr. Sanford Duke says the new clinic was born out of the need to support expecting mothers in the community.

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Atrium Health Navicent Baldwin celebrated the grand opening of a new women’s OB/GYN clinic in Milledgeville on Thursday.
The clinic offers prenatal and general care and gynecological services, including pap smears and well-woman visits.
There’s a national high demand for healthcare workers, and Atrium Health Navicent is proud to partner with the medical community and governmental health agencies to help address rural health challenges in Milledgeville, including a gap in OB-GYN care.
Chief clinical officer Dr. Sanford Duke says the new clinic was born out of the need to support expecting mothers in that community.
“We unfortunately had a loss of several OB-GYN who deliver babies,” he said. “Dr. Charles Brown is the only remaining physician who delivered babies in that community. And out of that need, we stepped up and opened this clinic, and we’re excited about it.”
Duke says the clinic’s main focus is expectant mothers. He believes with good prenatal care, they can assist mothers with great outcomes for them and their babies.
“When we look across the state, we know that Georgia lags behind the nation in maternal mortality and morbidity,” he said. “And what we’re talking there is safe pregnancies and good outcomes, so what we really want to do as a good healthcare system is partner with expectant mothers to ensure that they have a safe pregnancy.”
Atrium Health Navicent Baldwin Women’s Care OB-GYN is located on the campus of Atrium Health Navicent Baldwin at 624 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Milledgeville. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to noon.
