MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – An Atrium Health Navicent doctor is sharing tips and raising awareness ahead of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Surgical oncologist Paul Dale said the Atrium Health Navicent Peyton Anderson Cancer Center has resources for the community.

Dale said breast cancer is the number one cancer that women can get throughout their lifetime. He said one in eight women will get an invasive cancer.

“The earlier we find it, the higher the chance of you living a good long life,” says Dale. ” It’s important to think that most women are going to survive cancer and be survivors.”

Dale said breast cancer survival has increased over the decades. He added that not everyone needs chemotherapy, and some women may be able to find other alternatives.
