Atlanta Motor Speedway’s Friday Night Drags Week 14 Results
HAMPTON, GA – The points race tightened up in a multiple divisions in Week 14 of Friday Night Drags & Show-N-Shine at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Mike Ramsey of Canton in his 2010 Dragster tightened the gap in the super pro division with a final round victory over Bobby Daniel. Ramsey entered Friday’s action three points behind Daniel and his 1999 Chevy Monte Carlo for the top spot. With the win, Ramsey is now one point out of first place.
“I got a good tree, which is a good thing,” said Ramsey. “I’m not normally the best on the tree, I caught a good light. We stayed pretty close the entire way, I pulled ahead a little bit at the end, carrying a lot of speed.”
David Craft of McDonough also closed the gap in the pro division aboard his 1986 Chevrolet Corvette as he took it to victory lane and pulled within one point of the top spot in the class behind Alan Kidd. Craft and Kidd, who have been the division’s top two drivers for most of the season, went head-to-head in the final.
“It was a good run,” said Craft. “That was the first time I have been side-by-side with him. We were skating all over the place, but it was a good run.”
Toney Freeman maintained a firm grip on the top spot in the Cycle Nation Super Bike Class with his second consecutive victory at Friday Night Drags and remains the division’s leader with just two points events remaining on the schedule.
