Armed suspects arrested on Mercer University campus

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Two juveniles were caught trying to break-into a car on Mercer University campus.

It happened around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in the university center’s parking lot. According to Lt. Sean DeFoe with the Bibb Sheriff’s Office, the suspects also tried robbing a student with a gun.

Officers chased the minors into the school’s Greek Village. They caught one of them.

The sheriff’s office’s K-9 unit captured the second suspect who was hiding behind a loading dock.

Investigators also found a small handgun hidden under some pine straw.

School officials sent out a text message to students notifying them of the incident.
