Armed robbery suspects kidnap Perry gas station clerk
“The clerk was abducted in Perry and dropped off about 15 miles south in Dooly County unharmed,” Chief Steve Lynn said.
PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Perry police officers are looking for two armed robbery suspects who stole money from a Murphy Express on Sam Nunn Blvd. Monday night.
Chief Steve Lynn says Blake Fitzgerald and Brittany Nicole Harper kidnapped a gas station clerk after the robbery. They were last seen headed south on I-75 from Perry in a stolen 2010 silver Ford Edge.
“The clerk was abducted in Perry and dropped off about 15 miles south in Dooly County unharmed,” Lynn said.
Surveillance video shows what detectives believe to be Fitzgerald stealing cash and cigarettes from the store and then forcing the clerk to get in his car.
“They’re going one place, doing something, going to another one, doing something — keep moving like that,” Lynn said.
Lynn tells 41NBC the couple’s crime spree started in Alabama.
A reporter with the NBC station in Birmingham spoke to a victim, Kyle Dease, who was kidnapped by the couple. He’s warning people of the two.
“I want everybody to know. The whole nation should be on lookout that they do have a gun. I don’t think they want to use it, but if they are caught in a corner they might just so just to kind of be wary of your surroundings and be on the lookout,” Kyle Dease said.
Chief Lynn adds the victim in Monday’s kidnapping is OK.
“Fortunately there was no physical harm done to her. She had a gun pointed at her, but she wasn’t struck, she wasn’t shot and that’s a really good thing,” he said.
Update: Couple in crime spree arrested in Florida
Both suspects are considered armed and dangerous. Perry police are working with U.S. Marshals to find the two suspects.
Anyone with information is asked to call Lt. Ken Ezell at (478) 338-0255.
Fitzgerald and Harper, both of Joplin, Missouri, also are suspected of robbing and abducting a hotel clerk, attempting to rob a McDonald’s manager and briefly kidnapping a woman in the Birmingham, Alabama, suburbs before stealing her SUV.
