Are Apps Spying On You?

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)-All of you technology lovers beware. With the increased number of apps becoming available to consumers, you may be surprised at what some apps are able to do with your personal information once you download them. Certain apps that you download could access your phone’s system tools, phone calls, and even the camera.

Apps that use your phone’s camera may allow pictures to be taken and videos to be recorded. The District Manager at Verizon Wireless Brian Taylor said you should take some precautions when downloading apps. 

“One of the first things they should do is read the reviews on the application. A lot of people download an app, but they don’t know that sometimes when you download an app they can locate where you are. It can go into your personal contacts, and it can go into your calendar,” said Verizon
District Manager Brian Taylor.

All apps come with a star rating. If the star rating of the app is not good enough, remember to read the reviews.
