Aquatonics Helps Farmers Go Organic
Deep inside the Fort Valley State University Campus there’s something very unique going on. It’s a project called “Aqua Culture.” Farmers learn harvest fish to create another income source. It’s become a new tool for farmers. Dr. Patrica Duncan says, “The future is very bright for farmers to get involved in Aquaculture in the state of Georgia.”
It just takes a tank and a little bit of space. Duncan says, “It cuts out the need for acres and acres and ponds.”
The tanks recirculate water allowing fish like Tilapia to grow, which gives farmers another outlet to make money.
