Apple users may be eligible for part of $95 million class action settlement
Apple to settle lawsuit over Siri allegedly spying on users' private conversations, with potential compensation for eligible users.

(CNN)- Apple Inc. is set to pay $95 million as part of a class action settlement over allegations that its voice assistant, Siri, was secretly recording private conversations without users’ consent. The settlement could allow millions of Apple device owners to receive compensation, but Apple denies the allegations.
Lawsuit claims Siri recorded private conversations
The class action lawsuit, initially filed in federal court in 2021, accused Apple of violating users’ privacy rights by recording conversations after Siri was unintentionally activated. Users claimed their personal conversations were captured by their devices without their knowledge or consent.
Settlement agreed upon, but Apple denies wrongdoing
While Apple has agreed to settle the lawsuit, the company continues to deny the allegations. According to a legal notice obtained by USA Today, Apple maintains that its actions were not intentional and that it did not violate users’ privacy rights.
A hearing to approve the settlement is tentatively scheduled for August. Once approved, eligible Apple device users who owned devices since 2014 may be able to file claims to receive part of the $95 million settlement.
